The Northeast Region is one of six (6) Regions of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Incorporated. Chi Eta Phi is an international nonprofit service organization, which was chartered in 1932 at Freedmen's Hospital, now Howard University Hospital, in Washington, DC. (www.chietaphi.com).
In 1946, Boule' (National Conference) established a committee to divide the states into Regional districts. In 1953, the Northeast Region became the 1st officially organized Region of the sorority. This historic event took place at Provident Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland. At its inception, the Region had seven graduate chapters and one undergraduate chapter. As of 2007, the Northeast Region has 23 graduate chapters and 16 undergraduate chapters.
